It happened in a flash one-moment 14-year-old Wes Allen and his younger brother; Josh was hiking the Ouachita National Forest excited about the days ahead. The next moment both were disoriented and lost, dealing with thunderstorms, never ending rain and a spooky presents that seemed to be nearby at all times. Cries of Bobcats, howls of wolves, fighting not one bear but two, losing their compass, the cell phone not working, finding a girl, Lea and her grandfather living in the wilderness, the grandfather dying, Lea saying goodbye to her dead grandfather and tagging along with the brothers and Josh falling over a cliff.

Then lastly but by far the most inspiring and challenging was meeting a man called Earnest. A crazy man Wes, Josh and Lea thought but followed him to his cave to spend the night because Earnest said he had a C.B. Radio and they could use it to call for help. The next morning Earnest was gone, vanished without a trace. The brothers and Lea became even more afraid. Who was this man called Earnest, where did he come from and where had he gone?
