Rancher Tom Allison has discovered that something has pulled down one of his one-thousand pound longhorn steers and dragged it a quarter-mile over a rocky hill. At first Tom thinks it has to be a bear--probably a big grizzly--that took the steer. When he sees the track and realizes that it was a cat that took the steer, he is in shock. This, he thinks, must be the GRANDADDY of all mountain lions....

But Tom Allison has even bigger problems than this one--men who would steal all he owns, and a seven-foot, halfbreed Indian who wants Tom's son, and will stop at nothing to get him!
