Diana Cecelia Chambers was born in Washington, D.C., where she attended elementary, junior and senior high schools. Although she attended Roosevelt Senior High School until her senior year, she graduated from Eastern Senior High School in 1966. After working for the Department of Commerce for twenty years, she settled in San Diego, California. She served her country as a former member of both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserves. Her life took an unexpected turn fifteen years ago when Diana found herself raising some of her grandchildren. Having spent her teen years apart from one of her parents, she is willing to share some of her experiences with her readers, some of which may sound familiar to those who are still within the “system.” It is Diana's hope that in sharing her story, others will know there is light at the end of the tunnel and that they are not alone. For all the grandparents and others of the foster care system raising other's children, she sends her heartfelt “Thank You” for having the courage to step up to the plate!
